My Story
I’ll be honest, this all started with a single video in 2010. Growing up in the golden age of YouTube, I played around with lot of different concepts from stop motion and LEGO, to PC gaming and one lone food review. That is, until Van Leeuwen yanked me back to the edible call of duty in 2021 with the introduction of their ghastly macaroni and cheese ice cream collaboration with Kraft.
Something about it both excited and sickened me. The world had to know about this pale orange savory abomination, so naturally, I took it upon myself to inform the public via a video on Instagram. To my surprise, I was greeted by calls from my friends to start a food review page and thus, after Goldfish released an intriguing collab with Old Bay, @snachwithzach was officially born in 2022.
I had two main criteria for selecting which products I would review on my page: either they had to be new (or at least new to me), or they had to be novel in some way, such as a collab, a bizarre flavor combo, etc. As I began to create more content, I started compiling lists on what food and beverages releases were happening in order to make sure I had a steady pipeline of new things to film, but it wouldn’t be my reviews that ultimately drove my page to success. Rather, it was the follow-up idea I had to share the lists I was creating on social media via an original video series titled the ‘Release Roundup’. This series catapulted my page onto the For You Pages of millions.
Since then, the Roundup has resulted in over 150 unique picklist videos, millions of hits online, and countless other editorial-style updates about the current happenings around new food and beverage releases. People know me today as the “food news guy”, who they can go for updates about their favorite brands and engage with other users who share an interest in new and novel eats. We’ve built a wonderful niche together and I consider myself very lucky to have such a specific niche on social media where we can share the things that get us excited.
